Notre Dame star Hannah Hidalgo dropped 24 points in Round 1 game

Notre Dame sophomore guard Hannah Hidalgo, a native of Merchantville, New Jersey, is widely considered to be among the very best players in all of women’s college basketball right now. As she leads the Fighting Irish through the women’s NCAA tournament, let’s take a look at her career and stats.

Hidalgo finished her career at Paul VI High School as the New Jersey state Player of the Year, then scored 26 points in the McDonald’s All-American Game, a new record.

That resume resulted in Hidalgo being an elite recruit, with the Fighting Irish winning the battle to get a player ranked No. 5 in her class to come to South Bend. Since then, the point guard has racked up honors, including First Team All-American in both of her collegiate seasons. With Notre Dame established as a national contender, Hidalgo won this year’s ACC Player of the Year award as well.

In December, Hidalgo became the fastest player to score 1,000 points for Notre Dame, while a February win over Louisville saw the second-year star post 34 points (a career high).
